Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Tech Lancaster is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2030

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will initially rise due to the growth of the business, i.e. requiring dedicated office space and increased personnel, then will decrease over the next five years to 0 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 100%

As a new organisation we are using baseline as our first year data

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2021 baseline:

  • Ongoing use of 100% renewable datacenters via our supplier Linode (utilising Equinix datacenters in London – https://sustainability.equinix.com/map-of-initiatives/) who source 100% renewable energy (REGO).
  • Due to the hybrid nature of organisation, with a significant amount of working from home, employee travel is minimised and rail transport is used wherever possible.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Advocate the use of green energy suppliers to buildings in which we are a tenant.
  • Have environmental considerations as a priority for refurbished offices including reusing and recycling furniture.
  • As Tech Lancaster continues to grow, we aim to further account for our online carbon footprint via data/bandwidth and server audits and will continue to use datacenters who source energy from 100% renewable energy.
